On Friday, March 15th, 2019, students all over the world left school midday and gathered in throngs at state buildings and other public spaces. This global action was intended to make a statement to world leaders who continually turn a blind eye to the increasingly pressing climate issues the world is facing.

Who Is Beto O’Rourke?

Robert, or Beto, O’Rourke, was born in El Paso, Texas in 1972, where he resides today with his wife and three children. He graduated from Columbia University in 1993, where he was captain of the mens heavyweight crew team. After graduation, O’Rourke was a guitarist for a rock band and was once arrested for burglary and DUI charges, but went on to found a successful Internet service company in El Paso in 1999. He eventually ventured into politics when he was elected to El Paso’s City Council, serving from 2005-2011.

As the midterm elections came to an end, the Democrats swept the House on the national level while the Republicans remained in control of the Senate. The house now has 230 Democratic seats and 199 Republican seats while the Senate has 47 and 51, respectively.

I’m not surprised that Kavanaugh got confirmed, and even if he didn’t, some equally qualified, conservative judge would have been appointed since I doubt the Democrats will win the Senate.”
