Fourteen CRLS sports teams’ 2024 fall seasons have come to an end. Three of these teams qualified for various state tournaments.
Boys Soccer:
After finishing the season with a record of 4-4-8, the boys’ varsity soccer team obtained a spot in the MIAA Division 1 state tournament, ranking 32 out of 59. They emerged victorious in the preliminary round against number 33 Boston Latin with a score of 3-1. The boys’ soccer team faced a challenging first-round state tournament match against top-ranked Newton South, falling 1-2 against the Lions. The Falcons’ journey from preseason to post was evidence of their hard work and cohesion as a team, as this result wraps up their third consecutive season of qualifying for states. With captains Eyasu Tsegaye and Shentao Tien-Crawley, the Falcons were brought in unison to make it this far!
Girls Volleyball:
The Falcons’ girls’ varsity volleyball team made a memorable run this season, qualifying for the MIAA Division 1 State tournament for the first time in seven years. Opening with a thrilling victory over Malden High School in the preliminary round, the Falcons proceeded further into the bracket. Their spirited performance secured them a matchup in the round of 32, against the Brookline High School Warriors, ranked second in the state. Though their run concluded with a loss to Brookline, their remarkable season added a new chapter to CRLS girls’ volleyball history. Players Eileana Su, Noah Beyer, and Greta Donati led the team’s stats, and captains Deva De Celis, Samantha Rosenberg, and Yanency Fletcher Lewis demonstrated great leadership and dedication on and off the court.
Crew:
The CRLS crew teams made waves at the Textile Regatta meet, showing their determination and teamwork during every race. The following teams were awarded:
Mens JR 4+, B, 1st place – 2V
Mens JR 4+, B, 3rd place – 3V
Womens JR 4+, B, 1st place – 3V
Mens JR novice 8+, 1st place
Later on, the Falcons celebrate their alumni rowing at the Head of the Charles (HOTC), including Simon Luden ’14, Aiden Lee ’17, Jesse Low ’20, Lucas Cannistraro ’22, Oliver Saffery ’19, Cedar Larson ’24, and finally Mohammad Jihad ’24. Our community is extremely proud to see how far they’ve come along, and can’t wait to see what more they will accomplish in the future!
The CRLS crew team capped off their season with notable success at the MPRSA State Public School Rowing Championship. The varsity team brought home four trophies, underscoring their strength and determination on the water. The girls’ novice 4+’s also showcased their talent with second-place finishes in two races. Their accomplishments are celebrated with trophies proudly displayed in at CRLS, a testament to the athletes’ dedication and hard work.
