In 1621, the Pilgrims of Plymouth, Massachusetts, held the very first Thanksgiving. It was a joyous occasion, celebrating the end of a successful harvest season. Since then, Americans have upheld this tradition, expressing their thankfulness every November. As Thanksgiving grows nearer, a question lingers: what is CRLS thankful for?
Many CRLS students have expressed gratitude for their families and the support they provide. Niamh Roberts Halloran ’26 told the Register Forum, “I’m thankful for my family; it feels really nice to have so much support behind me.” This feeling was shared by Krissie Alexis ’26, who told the Register Forum, “I’m thankful for my family, who I care so deeply about.” Alice Zickler ’27 expressed gratitude for her sister in particular, telling the Register Forum, “I’m so thankful that my sister and I have such a good relationship.” Computer science teacher Dr. Eric Wu was grateful for his family as well, telling the Register Forum, “I am thankful for my kids.” Marvi Spahiu ’27 showed his familial appreciation with a heartfelt speech, telling the Register Forum, “I am thankful for my family, who I love so, so much, and the impact that they’ve had on my life. They’ve been there since day one; I’ve grown up with them, and they have always taken such good care of me.” It is truly wonderful to see so much familial love.
Students and staff alike have shown immense gratitude for the CRLS community as well. Wu told the Register Forum, “I am thankful for having such great students!” Will Kenney ’27 expressed appreciation for his peers, telling the Register Forum, “I’m so thankful for my chemistry class!” Ella Colgan ’26 showed gratitude for fellow members of the CRLS Modern Dance Company, telling the Register Forum, “I’m thankful for the dance community and the passion we all share for our art form.” Dance teacher Ms. Brenda Divelbliss expanded on this, telling the Register Forum, “I am so thankful for all of the kind, hard-working, positive dancers at CRLS. They spend an enormous amount of time and energy in the dance studio, and it is an honor to witness their creativity.” Rehaan Anjaria ’25 was grateful for more simple joys, telling the Register Forum, “I am so thankful for biking.” These feelings of appreciation were perfectly summed up by Rory Hill ’25, who told the Register Forum, “I’m so thankful for this environment and the way it connects us and brings us joy, comfort, and safety.” The Register Forum is so glad to hear that members of CRLS feel supported by our school community.
CRLS students and teachers almost exclusively expressed gratitude for their surroundings, whether in the form of family, peers, or culture. It is incredibly heartwarming to hear that the wonderful members of our school feel so loved and supported by those around them, and hopefully CRLS—and Cambridge as a whole—will continue to foster this warm atmosphere. From the Register Forum, we wish you all a happy Thanksgiving!
