Welcome to the 134th edition of the Register Forum! We are more excited than ever to continue the tradition of bringing you the stories, opinions, and creative works that make CRLS inclusive, intellectual, and spirited. This year, we are planning to make the RF an even more welcoming and impactful platform for all students.
Our mission is to make the paper an accessible space for all students. Cambridge, being somewhat of a bubble, often doesn’t leave room for disagreement or diversity in matters of opinion. As our country becomes increasingly polarized, it is imperative that we as a newspaper aim to host all perspectives in an effort to bridge this gap and find common ground. The Register Forum is a dedicated space for discourse, and our Opinion section is always open for debate, new ideas, and unique perspectives. In order to achieve our hopes of a more community-centered paper, we are planning on implementing a new opportunity for CRLS clubs: clubs are now encouraged to take up a page in the paper, where all the writing, media, and more are done by club members. This is a great way to advertise your club, as well as amplify the voices of your club’s members and the issues they care about. Our goal is to print articles that are important to the community and diversify our authorship.
If you or someone you know is interested in taking out a page for a club, don’t hesitate to reach out to Abby and Maddy.
Alongside new opportunities, we’re also holding the Register Forum to a higher standard. That means ensuring accuracy, implementing clear fact-checking, and making sure that every edition reaches you right on schedule. With our new fact-checking guidelines for the Nation section, we promise to provide reliable reporting on all the latest news.
Under the leadership of our current Nation editors Calvin Lewis ’25 and Anna-Maria Chelidze ’25, the Register Forum will provide accurate and timely coverage of the 2025 presidential election as it unfolds in the coming months.
In an effort to maintain timeliness, there will be no more delayed distributions. We will get each issue out on time, every time. After all, a great newspaper isn’t just about compelling content, it’s about consistency and showing up when it matters most. So keep an eye out for the next edition—we promise it’ll be waiting for you.
Lastly, a few sections in the Register Forum have undergone some renovations this summer. Our Food and Culture section will now be reviewing local restaurants, as well as serving you traditional, tried and true recipes. We are also thrilled to announce that the Register Forum Podcast will be returning, after a year-long hiatus. Our new hosts, Addison Rosenblum ’25, Naseem Anjaria ’25, as well as our Audio & Visual editor, Clara Fennell ’26, have been hard at work developing new ideas, seeking out guests, and brainstorming topics. Stay tuned for an exclusive interview with Principal Damon Smith this fall on Apple Podcasts, iTunes, and Spotify. We look forward to reading your contributions, hearing your feedback, and engaging with the community. After all, the Register Forum depends solely on you, the reader. So thank you for sticking with us all 134 years. Your involvement is what makes the Register Forum more than a newspaper, but a reflection of who we are.
All the best, your Editors-in-Chief, Abby and Maddy.
