As the school year comes to a close, the CRLS’ spring sports season draws to an end. The 2024 CRLS spring season, specifically, brought many achievements for Cambridge athletics, with a multitude of CRLS sports teams having exceptional seasons.
Girls Lacrosse:
The CRLS Girls’ Lacrosse Team celebrates their second season with Team USA Lacrosse Alumni Coach Amory Rowe Salem, and completes their season with a record of 6-14, falling just short of making the MIAA tournament. Team member Maddy Marinovich ’24 received DCL All Star recognition, and Kate Wheatley ’25 received an DCL Honorable Mention Award. The team celebrates seniors Max Darrah, Bereket Secunda, Anneliese Mattox, Charlotte Deflumeri, Christina Korn, and Maddy Marinovich.
Boys Lacrosse:
On May 21st, the CRLS Boys Lacrosse team ended their season with a powerful 16-5 win over Boston Latin School, concluding their season with a final record of 6-12. Seniors Aidan Mcferran, Sam Kahn, Evan Tang, Will DeSimone, Dylan Kardos, & Jorge Pulgarin are recognized by the team.
Crew:
On Memorial Day weekend, both Girls and Boys Falcons’ Crew teams qualified all eight varsity fours to New England Interscholastic Rowing Association (NEIRA) competition, a first in program history. Girls’ 1V ranked an impressive first place in the petite final, holding seventh place in New England overall, and Boy’s 2V and 3V ranked tenth & sixth respectively.
Girls Ultimate Frisbee:
During the Memorial Day long weekend, the team participated in the Massachusetts State Championships, leaving the competition ranked an impressive fifth in the state. Girls Ultimate Frisbee congratulates seniors Lucy Alexander, Maisy Branch, Sasha Celimli, Julia Teller, Amy Zhou, Tessa Duclos-Mazzone, Lily Grodzins, Amy Kim, Megan Huang, and Rufus Helmreich.
Boys Tennis:
The CRLS Boys Tennis team concluded their regular season with a record of 8-8. Following their tight 3-2 win against Needham in the MIAA tournament round of thirty-two, the team assembled to match up against Lexington High School in the round of sixteen, unfortunately falling just short in a 4-1 loss. The Team celebrates seniors Henry Behrens, Tom Duraisingh, Eli Fangman, Bruno Spadola, Alex Mitarachi, Oliver Price, and Alonso Berry.
Volleyball:
The CRLS Volleyball team’s regular season culminated in a 3-2 win over Wayland High School, their power ranking an impressive fourteen in the Massachusetts Division 1 tournament. The team, which had a regular season record of 10-10, conquered Boston Latin High School 3-0 in the round of thirty-two, but fell to Natick High School in the round of sixteen. The Boys’ Volleyball team congratulates 2024 graduates Henry Bonney, Damian Gonzalez-Rodriguez, Jeremiah Barron, Myles Litman, Jay Rochberg, Anthony Thompson, Tashi Mulug-Labrang, Jayden Ferreria-Miller, and Abrar Hoque.
Girls Tennis:
The Falcons’ Girls Tennis team ends their regular season with a record of 3-13, ranking 32nd in the state and clinching a spot in the MIAA tournament. The team faced off against Bridgewater Raynham High School as a preliminary round matchup, coming out with a 3-2 victory, but unfortunately fell to #1 ranked Lexington High School in a 5-0 loss. The team bids farewell to seniors Bodie Morein, Semi George, Ella Driscoll, Trenée James-Cotton, Nola Cox, Safika Julien, and Lucille Schmitt.
