After four years of teaching at CRLS, our beloved AP US Government and Politics and Critical Issues teacher, Ms. Sandoval, is continuing her journey in California, where she plans to continue teaching at a local public high school in the Bay Area. Her calm nature, thoughtful personality, and remarkable ability to connect with students, makes everyone feel comfortable and valued in her classroom.
Before teaching at CRLS, Ms. Sandoval earned her History and Social Policy degrees from Northwestern University and then participated in Stanford’s Teacher Education Program. As an active member of the Cambridge Education Association Union, she developed strong bonds with her fellow teachers.
Ms. Sandoval’s second-floor classroom is well known to CRLS students, and she has cherished her corner of the hallway, spending countless hours befriending teachers in that area. When walking through that dark blue hallway, it is not hard to find the teachers celebrating something, whether that be a baby shower, an engagement party, or just a fun lunch spent together.
Ms. Sandoval has also formed deep connections with her students and has loved to watch them grow over time. Teaching both an AP class and a sophomore year history requirement, certain students had the opportunity to learn from Ms. Sandoval two, or maybe even three, times. She has particularly appreciated the diversity of CRLS and the chance to teach a wide range of students.
CRLS had a significant impact on Ms. Sandoval, and she, in turn, has made an even greater impact on students and teachers. Many students have said that her classes have inspired them to become politically active members of their communities. As one of the most engaging teachers at the school, you will hardly ever find someone dozing off in Ms. Sandoval’s class. The energy and atmosphere of her classroom environment ease students’ stress and worries about the rigorous courses they are taking. Though we are sad to see her go, we know she will continue to have a great impact on all students fortunate enough to have her. Ms. Sandoval’s kindness and character have truly set her apart in our school community.
Thank you, Ms. Sandoval, for everything you have done for our school. We will truly miss you next year.
