As the end of the school year inches closer and closer, it is hard to believe that our time in the Register Forum is coming to a close. For the past four years at CRLS, writing, editing, and laying out articles have been as prevalent in our lives as sleeping, eating, and breathing. Our high school experience has been defined and changed for the better by the Register Forum as it has also allowed us to meet, become friends with, and be inspired by an incredibly talented and amazing group of people.
But before we bid our final goodbyes, we want to thank all the students who have dedicated their time and effort into producing the 133rd edition of the Register Forum.
In particular, we want to give a huge shout-out to some of our editors. When we first took on the reins of the RF, we wanted to put an emphasis on first-hand reporting by revamping our Metro Section to only include local Cambridge stories and moving all national and international coverage to our new Nation Section.
This was only possible thanks to Hannah Erickson ’25, who stepped up and did an amazing job heading the section as Metro editor with her excellent reporting and pitches, and Elaine Wen ’24, who was always enthusiastic and motivated about editing all the Nation articles by herself.
We also want to highlight Alma Barak ’25, who devoted an incredible amount of time and effort as an Around School Editor and wrote some of our best stories this year. Lastly, we cannot forget our senior Managing Editors, Meiya Weeks ’24 and Victoria Park ’24, who were always at our side, ready to help, and made life much easier by lifting our editing, copyediting, and layout burdens.
Ultimately, without the work of all of our contributing writers, copyeditors, photographers, illustrations, and, of course, our editorial staff, we could not have possibly printed and distributed all our editions. We were extremely humbled by and grateful for the passion and dedication everyone put into the Register Forum this year. Despite the bittersweet feeling of leaving room 3401 for the last time, we look forward to the growth we know that next year will bring.
Our successors, former Managing Editor Madeline Nohrnberg ’25 and former Opinion Editor Abigail Habtehans ’25, have spent hours learning all there is to learn about running a newspaper. We have seen them develop first as journalists, then as editors, and now as leaders. No doubt, the future of the Register Forum is in good hands.
In what will be the final paragraph of the many articles we have written, we want to thank you, the reader. A paper without a reader is truly nothing. Throughout our tenure, every decision has been made with the reader in mind. As a completely student-run newspaper, we have always stressed the importance of using the Register Forum to build a stronger sense of community at CRLS. It was truly special to see a large group of students from varied backgrounds and experiences come together every month to produce a 16-page edition. But it was even more special to see members of the CRLS community unite to read the articles, complete the crosswords, complement our writers, and discuss the pieces. So thank you, students, not only for your eyes but also for your voices. You have made this goodbye incredibly difficult. Stephen and Jeremiah, out.
