The year is almost over, and the countdown to Christmas is ticking fast. We all know Christmas is the season of giving, so it’s time to start thinking about things to gift your friends, family, or loved ones. From a super expensive item to an excellent affordable item: books, clothes, accessories, or even food are great options! When thinking of a present to gift someone, it is a big, never-ending hassle. To some of you who can’t think of what to give, the Register Forum would like to provide some ideas for giving the perfect gift this Christmas season.
Let’s start with a gift that ANYONE can give. No extra money, no need to go shopping or anything complicated if those things don’t suit you. The go-to, simple, and old-style gifts are LETTERS! If you are thinking of something to give to your loved ones or family, write a meaningful letter and express how you feel—write what you are thankful for and express the love through words. If you want to be a little fancier, spend a little more to make the letter even more attractive with a “pop-up” letter from a store called Lovepop which you can find next to the CVS in Harvard Square.
Another great gift idea is clothing, whether it’s cozy sweaters for Christmas, matching PJs for couples, or CRLS merchandise from the school store. You can also give a nice puffer jacket, a scarf, a beanie, or winter gloves for this freezing winter weather. Some other ideas are sneakers for the sneakerheads or winter boots for those who enjoy going outside in the snow. You can also go with some nice and familiar gifts like men’s or women’s fragrances, jewelry gifts like watches, necklaces, bracelets, or tech gifts like earphones/headphones or speakers. You could also gift a sporting item for all the athletes out there and some sweet snacks while you’re at it. It all depends on what the person likes and who the person is.
Also, who says a gift has to be an object? You give a gift to someone you care for, which can be a memory or an extra memorable experience. You can take your loved ones on a surprise adventure, skate with them at a nearby ice rink, get some dinner, go skiing or sledding, or watch a Christmas movie together. Sometimes spending quality time with someone can be a better gift than anything else. As they say, “Things end, but memories last forever.”
Lastly, if these ideas were not enough, ASK. If you’re still struggling to decide what to give for Christmas, asking someone what they want can be a good idea. You will only know what they genuinely want once they tell you. Think of a gift soon, and have a Merry Christmas.
