As fall comes to a halt and winter begins, the halls of CRLS start to fill up with students holding heavy coats and warm drinks. This means that the light blaze of fall fashion is out and the heavy fire of winter fashion is burning in. To commemorate this, here’s your 2023 Fall Fashion Trend Recap.

Birkenstocks Boston:

Let’s start off with Birkenstocks Boston. These Pinterest staples are one summer fashion trend that keeps on chugging. You can often find them clomping through the halls in the popular Light Tan Taupe colorway on almost everyone. The dexterity, warmth, and coziness of the shoe are what seem to attract CRLS students.

Although sometimes categorized as “Granola White Girl,” these correspondents have seen the Bostons on all different types of students. Each agrees that the comfort of these clogs is unparalleled, often comparing it to the likes of the classic summer shoe Crocs.  Yet, despite the fact one of these correspondents owns a pair of Birkenstock Bostons, we predict this fall trend will die out as soon as the harsh New England winter wind hits the back of unfortunate clog wearers’ heels.On the flip side, we see the Birkenstock brand as a whole, especially their classic open-toed sandals, coming back for the summer.

Sp5der Hoodies:

Brown, pink, black, blue, green, and purple—name a color and there’s a Sp5der Hoodie in it. We’ve seen these hoodies become increasingly popular around CRLS and social media alike. The comfort, fit, and variety of graphic and color choices are what make these hoodies stand out in such a saturated market. One of the major drawbacks of the Sp5der hoodie is its price, and these correspondents have noticed CRLS students resort to buying replicas of the hoodie. We don’t hate fakes here, but we encourage our readers to proceed with caution when buying counterfeit items, as they are an unregulated market. With all this in mind, these correspondents can already see these hoodies starting to die out and predict they won’t hold on in the fast pace of the CRLS fashion halls for much longer. 

Adidas Sambas:

Just like the New Balance wave last year, Adidas has hit the ground running. Right now, the model that has the school hooked is the Sambas, a shoe that was originally designed to play soccer in icy conditions but has now become a staple of people’s wardrobes. The simplicity of the shoe is what makes it so great—you can’t go wrong with a gum bottom midsole and a black and white upper. Do we think the Sambas are going to maintain their popularity? No, we don’t. However, Adidas as a brand is timeless, and it’ll definitely stay around. 

Soccer Jerseys:

Now that we’ve talked about trends that have made it to CRLS, here’s one that’s rising fast throughout the world. For soccer jerseys, it doesn’t matter if you’ve never watched a game or kicked a ball; people still wear them. From simple black and white jerseys to colorful ones with exotic patterns and designs, jerseys are for anyone. Now, if you want to get on the trend early but have no ball knowledge, our advice for you is to do some research about the club or player you’re wearing before you go out in public. You’ll definitely get stares both good and bad—just watch out, there are some lunatics. We predict this trend will stay around as long as soccer itself, but we see it fluctuating as these correspondents remember the bright neon soccer jersey wave of 2016-2018.
