As the weather gets colder, it’s time for Falcons Nation to don our heaviest puffers and warm up with some thrilling winter sports! Coming off of unprecedented success in the fall season, CRLS sports fans’ optimism and cheers are sure to elevate the Falcons to exciting new heights.
Girls Hockey Senior Maude Ullmann ’26 expressed optimism that the new cohort of 9th graders will help the Falcons spread their wings and soar. She told the Register Forum, “We are looking to improve on our success from last year and make it a winning season.” After a shaky few years, could this be the start of a new chapter? With a couple wins last season than in previous years, Ullmann is justified in expressing confidence in an upward trajectory for the Falcons. Returning almost all of their team, Boys Hockey can look forward to tacking on a couple of wins this season as well.
Boys Indoor Track is similarly optimistic about building momentum from a confidence-building fifth-place finish at the State Meet this fall. Junior Captains Declan Lewis ’27 and Liam Eldridge ’27 both emphasized the importance of building a good team culture, where members enjoy the process of training in order to compete and continue to get faster. Eldridge explained to the Register Forum: “We’re hoping to build on a successful [cross country] season and continue gaining momentum for next year.” Also on the track, the Girls Indoor Track team is looking to make a statement. Senior Captain Fiona Litman ’26 spoke to the RF about focusing on “growth, consistency, and continuing to build a strong community” as essential for a successful season this winter. Although both teams have recently graduated a number of runners, these efforts to build a strong program are promising.
Girls Basketball Assistant Coach Maia Shen ’27 cited the importance of leadership on the team in ensuring their success this winter. Reflecting on last season, Shen told the Register Forum, “Our freshmen were really strong so I’m excited to see how they continue to grow,” while also expressing excitement for new additions to the team this year. Shen hopes to see growth both on and off the court, with goals “to keep playing hard and to go as far as possible.” After finishing with a 16–6 record, successfully cruising into the state tournament last year, Boys Basketball can continue to expect a healthy amount of success.
Regardless of the sport, CRLS student-athletes are sure to represent Cambridge proudly this winter on and off the courts, waters, rinks, tracks, and mats. As always, be sure to cheer your loudest for the home team!
