The Other Side of the Wall
Are there trees beyond this wall? Brighter suns?
Sweltering through shade, I am left alone
Tall grass sees past bleak stone bricks, but I don’t
Keeping my soul apart from my true thought
The wall evolves into buildings, cities
I stay old and decrepit like a tomb
It watches my grave to keep me under
Smiles and points through its hideous wealth
I started building a door to get through
But the wall had friends, they teamed up on me
One wall after another, I was blocked
Locked in a cage I built, that I can’t leave
I make peace with my walls, found my new home
Where I imagine the sun oozing light
